Will CBD Oil Show Up on a Drug Test?

Here is what you need to know to avoid getting detected on your next drug test.

Maybe you’re a weed enthusiast who’s trying to score the job of your dreams. Or, perhaps you’re on probation for a petty possession charge and are trying to avoid the long arm of the law.

Regardless of your reasoning, you need to pass a drug test. It’s evident that blunt with Girl Scout Cookies weed will register, but what will CBD oil show up on a drug test?

The Difference Between CBD And THC

Of course, the only way to adequately ensure yourself that you’ll pass a urinary drug test is to refrain from both THC and CBD. But honestly, even with CBD oil that contains THC, you’re not likely to fail if you stick to the recommended dose. Consuming 1,000 to 2,000 mg in one day, which again can result in a false positive, is a lot of CBD. In fact, that’s basically an entire bottle, or two depending on the size.

If you’re worried that even the slightest amount of THC (like the one that you get from hotboxing) will cause you to fail a urine drug test, then your best bet is to select CBD hemp oil products that contain no THC whatsoever. For example, HempMeds makes CBD hemp oil called RSHO-X™that is 100 percent THC-free. It’s also the first cannabinoid supplement to hit the market that “meets the rigid drug testing restrictions set forth by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).”

Drug tests are looking to find traces of THC, not CBD. However, that doesn’t mean you’re in the clear. As mentioned above, some CBD oils out there do include tiny amounts of THC.

But is that enough to make you fail a drug test? The answer is yes, but only if you ingest a whole lot of CBD oil.

Drug Tests Weren’t Designed To Detect CBD

If a person were to consume anywhere from 1000 to 2000 mg of CBD in a day, that would be enough to result in a positive for marijuana on a drug test. However, it would be a false positive. And if the sample were to undergo a GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry) test to verify if it’s actually positive, it would then be found to be negative as those particular tests are more accurate and do not detect CBD or other cannabinoids.

Still, the risk is there. And although it’s a minimal risk, that’s enough to make some people not want to consume CBD oil at all for fear that they’ll end up with a false positive. But again, not all CBD oil contains THC. One way to ease your fears would be to try detox products, like the Clear Choice Rescue Cleanse detox drink, which should flush any unwanted cannabinoids out of your system.

With the popularity of CBD oil growing day by day, more and more companies are producing CBD oil to meet the demand. While shopping around for CBD oil, you’ll find not just a couple, but several different products, all of which promise quality. But not all of these companies making these oils are honest. In fact, some will go as far as providing inaccurate information on their labels just to make a sale.

While checking your labels for information on the CBD oil’s contents and quality is vital, so is doing your research on the company itself. The best way to do this is to check to see if the products have gone through accurate testing. But don’t just look out for on-site test reports, but also third-party test reports. Green Roads, for example, offers an organic range of CBD products full supported by third-party lab test results.

Another thing you might want to glance over is the product’s reviews. Are they mostly positive? Or, is there a mix of opinions? Go for the company that creates products that people trust the most.

The Future Of Drug Tests In Legal States

In a number of legal cannabis states, employers are dropping drug testing for job applicants and employees. However, most states still give employers the right to drug test, no matter of local medical or adult use cannabis laws. Maine recently became the first state to protect cannabis users outside of work, so hopefully this is an ongoing trend. Although, some jobs will always drug test due to their nature, like operating heavy machinery. Hopefully, as regulations become more nuanced, we can figure out a way to protect all worker’s right to medicate after hours.
