25 Weed Hacks To Get You Through The Pandemic

COVID-19 hit hard and it seems like it won't be going away any time soon. That's why we created this list of must-try weed hacks so you can be a successful stoner in times of a pandemic.

Try CBG Flower

Like CBD, CBG is one of the ‘new talents’ in the cannabis industry to keep an eye out for. CBG is a non-psychoactive cannabis-derived component with its own specific set of effects and benefits.

A pandemic can be complicated and take a toll on our well-being. That’s why CBG flower can come in handy. Producing an uplifted spirit with an overall sense of chill, the Delta-8 Lemon Diesel CBG Strain from Botany Farms is the ideal strain to help you go by your day.

CBG delivers mind and body soothing effects, just like CBD, but without any associated drowsiness or sleepiness. You can use CBG as your daytime strain to help you feel uplifted and focused throughout your day.

Buy Enough Weed to Keep You Busy

We can’t help but feel like this one is extremely self-intuitive but it is the number one thing you should do. The reality about the pandemic is that you never know when things will turn to worse (unfortunately). This includes a huge amount of uncertainty in terms of how accessible weed will be later down the line.

Taking this into account it might be a good time to buy as much weed as you possibly can and make sure that you won’t run out. We know this involves incredible self-control to not smoke it all in a week, but hey, that’s what it’s come down to. So stay strong my friend.

Store Your Weed Properly

As a noob in the weed game I remember storing my weed in plastic ziploc baggies. BIG MISTAKE. I thought “well, this is how I’m getting them so it must be the best way to store them”. A few weeks later I had a stock of dry non-sticky weed that just didn’t feel right. Based on this experience I now make sure I always have available air tight glass jars that will not dry out my weed, keeping it nice and sticky for whenever the mood strikes. During a pandemic you don’t want to buy a bunch of weed and then find yourself having to smoke subpar products.

A few other important things to have in mind is that once you place your weed in glass jars make sure you don’t store different strains together. It’s always a good idea to store each strain separately, this way they will keep their smell and taste. Once you do have your buds in glass jars make sure you put the jars in a cool, dry, and preferably dark place. Exposure to moisture, heat, and sun is not great for weed prosperity. However, don’t store them in the fridge, this is also a bad idea.

Get A Dry-Herb Vaporizer

The best thing I’ve done in terms of weed etiquette in a long time has been purchasing my dry-herb vaporizer. Vaporizers allow you to reap all the benefits of inhaled cannabinoids like the fastest onset in the game but without having to inhale combusted smoke. Vapor is still causing some sort of damage to your lungs, but it certainly steers away from all the negative effects that inhaling actual smoke can have on your lungs.

A dry-herb vaporizer also allows you to keep using flowers instead of having to switch to vape oils and concentrates which is something that seems more than appealing in these troubled pandemic times. While we’re not suggesting that you stop smoking weed, we aren’t blind and realize that with a virus that may directly affect the lungs it might be smart to keep them as healthy as possible.

Our recommended vaporizer is the DaVinci IQ2. It is one of the best and most advanced portable vapes on the market today, a powerful machine that will las you for years.

Combine THC Bud With CBD Bud

Although this is technically an all around weed smoking hack that’s not precisely exclusive to the pandemic, it is a nice one to keep in mind for those times when you puff on the joint just one too many times.

Because CBD and THC attach to the same endocannabinoid receptors inside the body, if consumed together CBD may act as an inhibitor of THC. This means that consuming CBD before smoking THC could stop THC molecules from binding to receptors. This doesn’t mean that the products you’re consuming have to be taken the same way, for instance, you may be consuming CBD as an edible and THC in the form of a joint. However, it is suggested to consume them in product formats that provide similarly quick onsets.

Keeping A Smoking Kit In Your Bag

As someone who is frequently on the move, I’ve found myself in situations where I want to hit the joint a bit, as surely you have as well, and I just wasn’t able to find the supplies I needed. Whether that’s the herb itself or rolling papers, a pipe, or anything you might think of.

The point is, when away from home it might prove a bit difficult to get your hands on what you need, that’s why I always keep a stash in the outside pocket of my backpack. This usually includes 1 or 2 grams of herb, a case of wrapping papers, my vaporizer, and a grinder. During the pandemic this might be even more helpful because in places where weed and supplies used to be easily accessible you now run a larger risk of that not being the case anymore.

This tip is to be handled with caution due to legal obstacles depending on where you’re traveling to. That’s why it’s meant to inspire you in keeping a kit handy when moving around town rather than out of state.

Use A Sploof

As long as this coronavirus is around, you’re gonna be spending more time than usual at home. That’s a problem if you’re gonna be smoking inside and your roommates or neighbors hate the smell of weed. If you don’t want to make the change to a vaporizer and still enjoy your joints, then a sploof is the way to go.

This devices are designed to trap smoke and odor, letting you toke freely around your house. Just make sure that you are blowing out the smoke through the sploof, and that’s it. There are plenty of sploofs out there, but the best one and our recommendation is the Smokebuddy. Here’s our full review if you want to learn more. Or, if you have some time and a few basic materials, you can build one yourself. Click here to learn how.

Ensure You Have A Comfortable Smoking Pad (a.k.a. home)

Well, this one is hardly difficult to imagine, is it? We all dream of living in a comfortable pad, period. For weed enthusiasts like yourself and mine, that includes having a smoking friendly place. Perhaps a house with a backyard where you can chill outside in the privacy of your own property or a last floor apartment where neighbors will not be complaining about the smoke coming up from your apartment. These are all things to take into consideration when moving into a new place.

Choose The Right Moments

As with anything, it can be also hard to know exactly when the best time for smoking is and being able to make time for it. This applies especially if you’re quarantined in your apartment with your spouse and kids. Which might be reflected in a change of what your usual smoking habits used to be pre-pandemic.

We can’t really suggest what the best moments for weed are in your particular case because we don’t really know what your day-to-day looks like. But we can venture out a bit and guess that a nice walk in the park is a perfect excuse. Look for a moment that fits your schedule and know that you have that in the books however frequent you want it to be. Find a place in your schedule for an activity that you can easily fit into it and don’t have to plan for it way in advance. Basically, something you can do whenever the mood strikes.

Keep Your Favorite Drinks at Home

I can’t tell you how many times during this pandemic I’ve had to go on drink runs during a smoke sesh. They’ve actually come quite in handy because they give me an excuse to step out of the apartment, grab some fresh air, and light up a joint. But sometimes you just don’t feel like moving anywhere and even more so if you’ve been smoking some heavy indica that will throw you on your couch. So keep a stocked fridge with your drinks you enjoy while high.

Keep A Stocked Fridge

As with drinks the same applies for foods. In my personal experience there isn’t anything I enjoy more than finger food when I’m high. This might be something that happens to everyone or perhaps just me, I don’t know, the point is that I keep a stocked freezer with easy to make goodies.

So, identify what the foods you enjoy the most when high are and stock your fridge with them. This way you don’t have to leave your apartment, but more importantly, when the munchies kick in you won’t be force to go on surprised runs to put yourself in potential danger of contracting Covid.

Keep Leftover Glass Jars

As discussed above, one of the most important rules of the frequent weed smoker is storing your weed correctly. But this can turn out to be more difficult than it seems during a pandemic. Finding actual glass jars that are good for storing your flower at the cornerstone could be a hassle. That’s why at my house we’ve started to save small glass jars when we finish other foods like salsas and other products of the like.

Clean Your Leftover Glass Jars

One thing to keep in mind about glass jars is that once you finish the product, they usually keep the smells of their former contents. In most cases these are items that carry extra strong scents like olives, dried tomatoes, and pickles. So you have to make sure that you clean them properly and thoroughly before infusing your Blueberry Strain with Kalamata Olive scents. Which is a scenario that we’d all like to avoid.

What we like to do is cleant the inside of the jar really well with a sponge and soap. Then we let the jar sit with the foam created by the soap overnight. When you get back to your jar, rinse it well and if you have some wet coffee  grounds then place them in the jar, put the lid on it and shake it well. Open the lid back up and leave the jar with the coffee grounds overnight once again. The next morning rinse the jar again, let it dry, and you’re ready to use it for storage.

I’ve found that coffee grounds are the best to get rid of unwanted smells. So if you’re making coffee every morning in any case, you might as well use them right?

Make Infusions

Unfortunately this pandemic was created by a virus that directly affects the lungs. That’s why so many people are shifting towards alternative consumption methods like vaping, edibles, and tinctures. If this also describes your situation then you’ll agree that it would be great to be able to make your weed-recipes without too much extra effort. You already cook every day, so why not just add an extra ingredient?

The thing with weed recipes is that they often require other ingredients to be infused with weed first. Whether it be oil, butter, or honey, infusing one of the ingredients in the recipes is usually the way to do it. So keep a batch of infused ingredients that you use regularly, this way you just have to add them to your daily recipes and avoid having to smoke.

OR, get a Magical Butter MB2e Machine that can make the perfect infusions for you.

Make Edibles

Cannabutter and infused oil are technically considered edibles, but they’re not necessarily the image that comes to mind when we think of cannabis edibles. Edibles are a fun way to ingest cannabis without having to inhale smoke into your lungs.

The problem with edibles like brownies, cookies, and other fun snacks is that they may take a bit of time to make. Well, now that we’re in the midst of a pandemic you might find yourself with a bit more time on your hands. So take the time to make some useful snacks for yourself and your friends. You can usually keep them in the fridge or frozen for a later date.

Making edibles may sound like a complicated process, but thanks to machines like the Ardent FX, it has never been easier. This device is the all-in-one cannabis kitchen where you can make your infusions and even bake your edibles with only the push of a button.

Start A Home Grow Operation

If there ever was a time to start your own personal cannabis garden it’s this one. You find yourself at home with nobody but your dog to talk to? Are you spending long hours in front of your TV or video game console? Have you read all the books on your shelf?

Growing your own cannabis strains is a time consuming hobby, and one that requires a bit of knowledge. Or at least some researching to do it right. If cannabis is a passion to you, like it is to us, then growing your own weed has probably been on your list for a while. However, make sure you know your state’s regulations before you go ahead and get yourself locked up.

If you need seeds, go with Seed Supreme. They have the most complete portfolio of seed on the market and ship worldwide.

Make A Weed Smoking Playlist

It’s an incredible common scenario to find yourself staring at your computer trying to figure out what to do on it when smoking weed in a chill session at home. Especially if you’re already high and can’t seem to put your finger on what it is you’d like to listen to. So take your sobre mind and start creating a list of music you enjoy to avoid these ‘high’ times of confusion.

Grind Weed Yourself And Build Up Your Kief Stash

As briefly mentioned before, the quarantine has given many of us a gift that we didn’t usually have before; extra time. This extra time comes with dull moments and dull moments usually end up in a weed smoking session.

Now that you might be smoking more frequently your kief production will also go up if you’re grinding your own weed. So make sure you have a proper grinder with a level for kief storage. Don’t let all that precious material go to waste and keep it properly stored in a cool dark place.

Want grinder recommendations? Click here to see our selection of the best weed grinders on the market.

Look For A Few Kief-Based Recipes

Having all that extra kief on your hands opens up a world of possibilities. I know it because I’m currently deciding what to do with all this extra kief sitting on the bottom level of my grinder. So do some digging on the internet and see what could be a good use for it. Since we’re deeply into weed-edibles we’d recommend looking for a few kief-based recipes online that suit your palate and taste. Edibles are a great way to preserve weed as well because you can just throw your brownies in the freezer for a later date.

Find A Nice Outdoors Trail You Enjoy

As you might have already noticed, finding smoking session friendly activities during the pandemic can become an obstacle. But the world and its wonder will always be here for us, at least for the time being. So find a nice outdoors trail where you can get away from the masses and light up a doobie without the frenzied stares of your neighbors. Make a day out of it if you can, leave early, take some food, drinks, watch the sunrise or the sunset, and then make it back home for a relaxed evening.

Buy Comfortable Clothes

Now here’s one you probably have under control. Although this one is not directly correlated to smoking weed, it is part of our new reality that we’re likely spending more time at home than we used to. So we might as well enjoy it to the max and wear stuff that feels homey instead of un comfortable pants and jackets.

Make A Movie List

As with music, it turns out that deciding what movies to watch can be a bit difficult to do when high as well. So we encourage you to make a funnel list that you can start checking off as you go, instead of having to search for ‘top-movie’ lists while you should be watching one and relaxing.

The pandemic has also changed the way we access new releases, so this is actually turning out to be an advantage if you’re a bit on the lazy side. Because most companies now offer you the opportunity of accessing new releases online instead of having to go to the theater. For the best weed content on Netflix, click here.

Try New ‘High’ Activities

It’s never too late to try new things, even if the pandemic is keeping you locked inside your own home. The way we see it, this situation (as annoying as it is) has also given us the chance to explore new interests of our own. While getting ‘high’ is a great indoor activity, it’s also an activity that you can enjoy in the open, which coincidentally seems to be a safe place in terms of contracting Covid. So head outside, explore the backcountry, go fishing, camping, rivering, whatever feels right, try it out and take some buds with you to enjoy it a bit more. Or maybe start meditating or doing yoga, two activities that can go hand in hand with weed.

Online Deals

The pandemic has forced countless cannabis companies to turn their attention towards online retail. Many brands are opening up new sales avenues and launching online marketplaces. And with new launches come many good discounts. So keep your eyes open, visit your favorite cannabis online retailers often and catch a deal or two.
