How To Cure A Weed Hangover

Yes, they exist, and they make you exhausted.

Whether you’ve been smoking all day or saved your puffs for right before bed, we all experience the side effects of cannabis differently and depending on our preferred dosages.

But yes, cannabis hangovers do exist, and they could explain why you wake up feeling exhausted, confused, and out of it.

Symptoms Of A Weed Hangover

The most common symptoms of a weed hangover are exhaustion, fatigue, confusion, and lethargy.

In other words, you’re overly tired when you wake, and it may feel as though you’re still dreaming. Below are other symptoms that may come with a cannabis hangover;

  • brain fog
  • dry eyes
  • dry mouth
  • headaches
  • nausea

A typical hangover-like experience will usually disappear within an hour or two after you wake up, giving your brain some time to catch up to its regular morning routines.

Below are some extra tips for curing a cannabis hangover for additional relief;

  • Use A CBD-Only Product: We’re not telling you to cure a THC-induced hangover with more THC, but exclusively a CBD-only product. This calming and relaxing cannabinoid can provide some counteractive effects and reduce the symptoms caused by a weed hangover.
  • Pain Relievers: If that headache doesn’t quit and keeps you from starting the day right, take down a pain reliever like your usual ibuprofen (Advil).
  • Get Active: The last thing you want to do when exhausted from a weed hangover is move, but that serotonin you’ll get from even a 10-minute walk will do wonders for your mood and energy levels.
  • Plenty Of Water: Ensuring you’re hydrated is essential for warding off headaches and other symptoms like dry eyes and mouth.
  • Cold Shower: Even if you don’t have a weed hangover, a cold and brisk shower stimulates blood flow while waking the body and brain to help you stay alert.
  • Avoid Caffeine: If you have symptoms like dry eyes/mouth, nausea, and headaches, caffeine may worsen them by upsetting the stomach and dehydrating the body.

Preventing Weed Hangovers

Preventing a weed hangover can be as simple as switching up your smoking routine. The same goes for ingestible products like tinctures and edibles.

The most common way to get a cannabis hangover is using a THC product at night, close to bedtime. Going to sleep when high may disturb the REM cycle, which is vital for getting the proper amount and quality of sleep.

The best thing you can do to avoid a disturbed REM cycle is to use cannabis at least two hours before bedtime, no later. However, if you need weed for sleep, try introducing a more balanced product with an even CBD to THC ratio for a less psychoactive effect.
