Debunking 5 Common Myths About CBD

What you need to know about our non-psychoactive pal, CBD.

The cannabis industry is thriving. The culture has never reached such a level of popularity.

With that comes some myths and rumors about the plant we know and love. So what exactly are people saying about cannabidiol, aka CBD?

Here are five common myths you should know about.

CBD Can Get You High In Large Amounts

Go ahead and try it, but you’ll be disappointed and out of CBD.

No matter the amount of CBD taken, whether it’s by smoking, vaping, edibles, or tinctures, this cannabinoid will never get you high.

It contains no psychoactive properties and simply cannot cause psychoactive effects. For beginners and those new to the cannabis space, it can be easy to mix up CBD with psychoactive THC, the traditional cannabinoid responsible for a high.

But, these two cannabinoids are completely different. This also explains why CBD is federally legal in the U.S., while THC can only be present if the product contains less than 0.3%.

CBD Is Toxic To Animals

It’s totally understandable to think that CBD is toxic and harmful to animals. Surprisingly, this cannabinoid is not toxic to animals and does not give them unwanted side effects.

On the other hand, THC may cause marijuana toxicity, which may lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and lack of coordination. Whereas CBD is often used in pet treats for dogs and cats.

It’s also helpful for animals with chronic pain, inflammation, epilepsy, and anxiety.

All CBD Products Don't Contain THC

There are three kinds of CBD products on the market;

  • CBD Isolate
  • Broad-Spectrum CBD
  • Full-Spectrum CBD

CBD Isolate will not contain any traces of THC or any other cannabinoids. On the other hand, Broad-Spectrum CBD will contain other cannabinoids but not THC.

The only CBD product on the market with THC is Full-Spectrum CBD. This product contains different plant cannabinoids to produce the entourage effect. The THC level is so minor that it will not cause a high.

CBD Can Affect Mental Health With Long-Term Use

Self-medicating isn’t always the answer, but CBD can provide far more positives than negatives.

In fact, the negatives are scarce. CBD is a cannabinoid that likely won’t cause harm unless your body has a personal reaction to it (very rare).

If anything, CBD has done wonders for people with anxiety and depression. It improves the mood and relieves stress without causing a high.

There’s also a lack of research regarding the long-term effects of CBD, but it likely won’t cause damage considering it’s cherished in the medical realm.

You Can Get Addicted To CBD

It may be possible to get addicted to CBD, but your body won’t crave it like it does THC. This is because our brain’s receptors react differently to these cannabinoids.

So the high from THC will impact our receptors in a way that makes us crave feeling high again. However, when there’s no high involved, our body doesn’t find something to get addicted to.
