Pack your bags, and let's get to know the best places, and weed, in Bangor, Maine.
Maine was one of the first states to legalize recreational cannabis. It was also one of the first states to legalize medical cannabis. Well done Maine.
Maine’s history with weed is not recent, and certainly, this place has plenty of attractions to come and get a taste of it, starting with Bangor, a thriving port with quite a bit of recognition, great event venues, thriving arts, and cultural scene, and plenty of restaurants and stores.
When you visit Bangor, it’s a must-stop to say hello to Paul. Paul Bunyan, the 31-foot lumberjack that stands on Main Street. This particular work of a smiling giant with an axe represents Bangor’s lumbering spirit, once the country’s lumber capital.
Bangor, pronounced ban-gor (rhymes with the store), is an incredible place with dozens of things to do. But we know what’s on your mind first. Where do you get the best weed in this place?

Bangor has several parks that would do the job nicely, although we recommend a visit to the incredible Mount Hope Garden Cemetery, and yes it is a cemetery, but a nice one.
It is a very well-maintained garden cemetery that invites you to relax and walk around a bit. Also if you are a Stephen King fan you will be able to recognize several locations from his movies.
If the cemetery theme is a bit spooky for you, you can also walk along the Penobscot River Walkway, a park with a nice path that runs just 0.5 miles through Bangor’s picturesque Waterfront Park, between Union Street and the intersection of Railroad and Front Streets.
Remember that consumption of cannabis in any form (smoking, eating, or vaporizing) is not allowed in public places, including amusement parks, state and national parks, campgrounds, sidewalks and roadways, bars, restaurants, and outdoor or rooftop cafes. So consider lighting up beforehand or finding your own discreet area to smoke a quick joint. (But don’t say we told you that).

When it’s time to fill a hungry stomach, there’s nothing better than a delicious Bangor restaurant, and we’re talking about seafood.
If you want something typical of the area you can not miss the McLaughlin Seafood, where you will find lobster and fresh seafood from Maine, this restaurant is a classic of the place, being in service since 1978.
Another typical place you can’t miss to soothe some roadside munchies is Dysart’s Restaurant & Truck Stop. Here the meaning of family business takes on a whole new dimension.
The Lobstah Buoy is another must-visit seafood spot in Bangor. You can’t miss the incredible lobster or crab rolls. The meat is tender, the bread perfectly toasted and lightly seasoned, and hand-cut fries absolutely perfect. Our mouth is watering just thinking about it.

In Bangor, you have many choices of things to do. Its historic downtown is full of new stores, boutiques, and restaurants. The Waterfront is a unique venue that has been restored and currently hosts many important events in the region, be sure to check their calendar of events to see what concert is coming up.
If you are a fan of suspense you could visit Stephen King’s mansion and learn more about the places that inspired his books and movies.
With the number of natural parks, you can also take a nice walk in them, such as the Orono Bog Boardwalk, the Bangor City Forest, or the Cascade Park, and get a close look at nature with its incredible views and landscapes. And some good weed, of course.
