This Company Is Growing Cannabis Without The Plants

From cell to sale.

One Israel-based company is merging science and technology with nature, and it might be demonstrating the future of growing cannabis without actually growing the plant. BioHarvest prides itself on delivering consistent and economical products to help take our wellness journeys one step further.

Over the past few years, BioHarvest saw some interesting breakthroughs with its proprietary and patented BioFarming technology, which basically produces cannabinoids without growing the plant itself. The company didn’t start this process on cannabis; in fact, it hasn’t sold any marijuana-related products as they’re set to arrive sometime this year.

BioHarvest wanted to take advantage of the beneficial components of plants called secondary metabolites. This way, the company ensures the highest bioavailability and efficiency. Impressively, BioHarvest has done what should have been done a long time ago; the company helps shed light on the significance of secondary metabolites on the human body and demonstrates how they’re essential to support our health and wellness.

The company was founded in the science park of Rehovot, the biotech innovation hub of Israel notes BioHarvest’s website. Since then, the team has grown to become a talented and dedicated core that’s constantly working to advance BioFarming technology.

But how does the team do it? They isolate the part of the plant that carries the cells they choose to grow. They later cut the sample and place it on a dish with other needed nutrients for growth. The dish gets stored in a controlled environment that imitates an ideal growing climate for that particular plant. Once the cells begin to grow, the BioHarvest team never has to use another plant of the same species again.

The company’s very first product and top-seller is Vinia, derived from red grape cells that carry a dense makeup of polyphenols, notes BioHarvest’s website. The product has been shown to offer vast cardiovascular benefits through clinical trials in published peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The product has been incredibly successful and led BioHarvest to produce 2 tons per year. This process further demonstrated how BioFarming technology could be the future of plant-based product development without the need for plants. Now, BioHarvest is making waves in both Israel and the United States.

We should expect to see BioHarvest’s very first cannabis product sometime this year. The company hopes to use its patented BioFarming technology to produce cannabinoids without using the cannabis plant. It’s said that BioHarvest’s first cannabis product will be a hemp-based CBD and full spectrum tincture with cannabinoids from different strains.
