SeaWeed Naturals’ Co-Founder Is None Other Than Grandson Of Marine Explorer Jacques Cousteau

The company's products utilize the healing properties of seaweed, kelp, algae, and of course, cannabis.

In honor of his grandfather, marine explorer Jacques Cousteau, Philippe and his wife Ashlan Cousteau are launching a cannabis company with products that tie in the healing properties and benefits of sea greens like seaweed, kelp, and algae.

The company will launch edibles and topicals designed for the recreational market but for individuals who use the plant to combat pain. The products will first launch in California and are currently available online for legalized states.

The company is called SeaWeed Naturals, and not only will it make great use of sea greens and their medical benefits, but the company promises to make many efforts to save our oceans and the wildlife within.

Co-founder Ashlan Cousteau wrote in an email to Forbes that seaweed and “algae-based Omega 3s” paired with the medical value and benefits of cannabis “are a mighty combination.”

Later in the email, Ashlan opened up about why she and her husband felt inspired to create a cannabis company. She was first put on the plant by her friend Jill Belasco (also the company’s co-founder) after giving birth to the couple’s first child and finding it difficult to fall asleep.

After chewing on cannabis-infused gummies with melatonin, she “was finally able to sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and not groggy,” [http://to sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and not groggy,]reports Forbes.

Philippe also had a similar experience but with THC topicals. After suffering a shoulder injury and feeling immense pain, he turned to a THC body balm and was “floored by the results,” he told the magazine.

Now launching SeaWeed Naturals, Ashlan wrote that applying seaweed and kelp as a topical has been “proven to hydrate, minimize fine lines, promote collagen production, boost radiance, help relieve inflammation in the skin, and reduce aging from environmental aggressors like pollution.”

So far, SeaWeed Naturals has two different gummies, the High Tide with Sativa and Low Tide with Indica and melatonin. There are also two body balms and two oral tinctures, both with different CBD to THC ratios.

The new products are currently available online but should come to select retailers in California later this year. SeaWeed Naturals is also looking forward to releasing its CBD-based products throughout the nation in 2023.
