There's a bond between the LGBTQ+ and cannabis communities.
In the 80s and 90s, during the height of the AIDS epidemic, openly gay activists like Dennis Peron spearheaded the medical cannabis legalization movement. Tireless efforts from activists like Peron helped lead to the passage of California’s Proposition 215 (Compassion Use Act), which legalized medical cannabis.
Within a few years, Peron founded one of the first public dispensaries, the San Francisco Cannabis Buyers’ Club.
This Pride Month, we spotlight queer-owned cannabis brands that carry forward this legacy of activism and community support. Join us in celebrating these brands that continue to advocate for inclusivity and change within the cannabis industry.

Stone Road proudly champions queer voices daily, not just during Pride Month. Lex Corwin founded the company in California, which remains a queer-led family brand that emphasizes a safe and inclusive environment for customers and staff. They grow their cannabis on a 57-acre off-grid farm, supplying over 120 retail locations across California and Oklahoma.
Their commitment extends beyond their products; they partner with organizations like My Friend’s Place to support homeless youth.
Stone Road’s lineup includes:
Solo joints
Hash-infused pre-rolls
Flower (3.5g and 7g)
Sauce
Sugar
Last year, they released the iconic LOVE OUT OUD collection, featuring six new pre-roll flavors with rainbow filters, with a portion of their sales donated to charity.

Drew Martin, founded by queer entrepreneur Martin Gosselin, aims to shine a spotlight on LGBTQ+ visibility and representation in the cannabis industry. Gosselin still owns the brand and actively honors the LGBTQ+ pioneers who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.
And their buzzworthy pre-rolls? They contain other wellness-focused botanicals like:
Lemon
Passionflower
Ginger root
The brand’s commitment to the community extends to the supply chain, where they source all of their cannabis flowers from a small, queer and women-owned farm in Mendocino County.

At Sundae Flowers, co-founders and siblings Dae and Cindy Lim lead with a clear motto: “Community and culture first.”
Some of their most adored products include mochi gummies and Korean-inspired flavored vape pens.
Flavors include:
Golden pear
Sour yuzu
White strawberry
Lychee dragon
Dae, an openly gay entrepreneur, emphasizes inclusivity by hiring staff from the LGBTQ+, immigrant, and people of color communities, reflecting the diversity they champion. The company weaves in extra social support by supporting single-parent garment companies in Korea.

Queer couple Katie Stem and Katie Black own Peak Extracts, one of the first women-owned cannabis extraction companies. Stem and Black are active advocates within the community and maintain an inclusive workplace and shopping space for LGBTQ+ members.
Peak Extracts offers handmade cannabis concentrates, including:

Vape cartridges
There’s something for every craving.

Calexo wants to up the social scene by swapping boozy beverages for their cannabis-infused concoctions. The company was co-founded by Brandon Andrew and Ian Colon – part of the community themselves – and steered by a team of LGBTQ+, women, BIPOC individuals and allies.
Beyond refreshing their buyers, Calexo puts the pedal to the metal on destigmatizing cannabis, pushing for a more accepting and informed culture.
Their drink lineup includes:
Citrus rose
Cucumber citron
Semitropic
And for those looking to skip the buzz, their sparkling drinks offer all the flavor without the fog.
