Rolling papers are a must-have in every stoner's stash. Here's our review of one of the most famous brands out there.
Rolling papers are the bread and butter of many stoners stashes.
Their origins are a bit murky, with plenty of theories about where and how they started. Some believe it all began with people re-rolling leftover cigar butts in newspaper.
The birthplace of rolling papers is thought to be Alcoy, Spain, where they were used as early as the 1500s—made from recycled hemp and textile pulp. Fast forward to 1736, and the Lacroix family in France started producing rolling papers specifically for tobacco use.
The first papers designed with weed in mind didn’t come until much later, in 1972, thanks to the Bambu company.

Today, there are tons of rolling paper brands to choose from. Some, like RAW, are household names, while others are known for being cheap and not-so-great (we won’t name names, but if you know, you know).
In this article, we’re taking a closer look at Elements Rice Rolling Papers and giving the full Herb review.

Right from the start we were vibing with these papers became of the magnetic container it came in, which gave the perfect barrier preventing dirt or moisture reaching the papers.
Rolling with these papers felt sleek and easy. They didn’t come with pre-folds like most papers, which gave us the freedom to shape them just how we wanted.
Because Elements rice papers are odorless and tasteless, we got the full flavor of our bud (Grand Daddy Purp). No burnt paper taste—just pure Grand Daddy goodness.
Because these rice papers are odorless and tasteless, we got the full taste of the bud we were smoking up (Grand Daddy Purp). No taste of burnt paper, just Grandy Daddy goodness.
We also noticed that some papers can have a weird rough texture that makes rolling a pain, but Elements papers were smooth enough for an easy roll.
The only downside was the tips that came with the papers. They felt flimsy and didn’t hold up well. We found that pairing Elements papers with RAW tips gave us the perfect joint.
Elements Rice Rolling Papers are made with no additives—no flax, no pulp, just pure rice.
Some rolling papers do contain additives or are even bleached to control the burn rate, improve the ash’s appearance, or add flavor. But these extras aren’t exactly great for your health. Many of them contain heavy metals, which can lead to potential health risks over time.
If you’re health-conscious, organic, hemp, or rice-based papers are definitely the way to go.
We felt much better knowing Elements are 100% rice-based—and they were surprisingly strong and sturdy, too.
Rolling with Elements rice papers isn’t any different from rolling with any other kind of rolling paper. If you’ve rolled a joint before, you’re already good to go.
If not, check out our guide on how to roll a joint.
Elements rice rolling papers were a solid addition to our typical smoking session.
We often aren’t thinking about the fact that we’re also inhaling the burnt paper we’re smoking with when lighting up a joint. And we felt a lot safer knowing that the Elements papers were 100% rice-based, meaning we weren’t inhaling anything our body would say a hard no to.
At the end of the day, we didn’t notice a crazy difference compared to other brands, but we did think the smoke was smooth and let the natural flavors of our bud come out more compared to others papers.
