Take a savory trip back to 1960 at Fred 62.
Fred 62 has been satisfying cravings for over 20 years.
It sits on North Vermont Avenue in the Los Feliz neighborhood. It’s open from the crack of dawn and into the wee hours of the night, 365 days a year.
The staff at Fred 62 adore honoring the tradition of classic diners. However, they’re changing the idea of what diners can be with original, tasty, and diverse menu options.
Original chef and co-founder Fred Eric constantly surprises guests with his contemporary takes on fan-favorite diner classics. The restaurant offers vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free dishes and even has a dog-friendly outdoor patio.
To help get my appetite going, my friends and I passed around Pure Beauty’s Bermuda Triangle Preroll. It’s a delightful hybrid that helped me relax, ramp up my appetite, and gave me enough energy to keep my social senses tingling.

I have a history of filling up on appetizers, so I started light this time around.
I ordered a cup of the Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, but you can also get the Carrot Ginger option.
For a Mediterranean like myself, I’m pretty obsessed with anything tomato.
It was a delicious and creamy experience on my palate that exploded with hints of fresh basil. I wouldn’t be surprised if they picked the basil from a plant in the back right before serving it.

Needless to say, I was pretty hungry after the munchies kicked in. So, I did what most stoners would do and ordered the dish that screamed comfort food, the Fried Chicken & Waffles.
I’ve never had this combination, but Fred 62 had me looking for more. The dish came with Panko chicken tenders, which were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside.
The golden waffle with spiced maple syrups paired so well with the Panko chicken tenders, but I was lacking some veggies. So, I ordered a side of sautéed vegetables that were cooked and seasoned to perfection.
This meal was a 10/10, hands down.

This is what surprised me.
I’m all for trying new experiences, so the Churro Cheesecake was definitely on my radar.
It was a pretty hefty slice, one that came loaded with cinnamon cream cheese, two small churros, and whipped cream.
The graham cracker crust took me right back to my childhood, and I can honestly say I’m heading back to Fred 62 just to order this bad boy again.
All in all, my experience at Fred 62 might not have been so pleasant if it weren’t for the quick and friendly staff, the diverse guests (from hipsters to grandmas), and the overall retro look.
It’s quite the unique diner and definitely one of the best around Los Angeles. If you’re looking for a spot with a neat visual aesthetic, broad menu options, and finger-licking eats, Fred 62 awaits.
