If only consumers could help retailers decide which products to carry. After all, we’ve all had our fair share of negative experiences with cannabis and related products. If only you could try before you buy.
Well, that’s the reality at Lit Research. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto at 361 Yonge Street, Lit Research might seem like a casual lounge for consumers to spark up and kick back, but it’s much more than that. It’s a licensed research facility that lets consumers try various cannabis products in a zen, fun, and contemporary lounge environment.
Forgot your weed at home? No problem! At Lit Research, you don’t test your own stash but new and familiar products from the best brands that are eager to know what you think. Whether you’re looking for a reason to purchase the Tyson 2.0 x Stündenglass Gravity Bong, or you’re itching to try a powerhouse strain like Mint Chocolate Chip from Sweetgrass, Lit Research has it all and then some.

Herb’s team had an unforgettable time sparking up for the sake of research. We were joined by the facility’s founder Al Shefsky, Lead Research Administrator Joao Barello, Body + Spirit Cannabis Store Manager Jonathan Shefsky, and other passionate employees.
After a brief conversation, it’s easy to tell that Al is a community man. He’s not only eager to improve the cannabis community through research on various products, but he’s thrilled to help consumers use the plant in a safe, relaxed, and comfortable environment.
Al states, “Cannabis experiences at Lit Research deepen connections between Licensed Producers and cannabis consumers while generating powerful real-world consumer preference data to inform product development and innovation.”
But how does it work? It’s quite simple…and very fun. For each product or device you want to try, a Lit Research employee provides a participant evaluation card to rate the product based on several factors, including but not limited to:
Impressively, the facility has administered over 7000 individual cannabis study sessions to date! All in a safe, relaxed, and social environment where community and your opinion matter most.

During our visit, the staff gave us an in-depth explanation of the many events hosted at Lit Research, like OCS pre-launch education and product testing events, not to mention the Cali Cup comparative study, where consumers sampled two phenos and OCS launched the winner the following month. The space even has two comedy shows every Saturday night!
All while giving us the rundown, Joao was rolling up some crazy concoction, a cannabis cigar packed to the heavens with resinous flower practically oozing out of the paper. Needless to say, the staff at Lit Research is a delight. They’re eager to collect your honest opinions about products to improve the market with goods that make a difference.
