The new docuseries will see rapper Killer Mike in four U.S. cities discussing social justice and marijuana's impact with other notable entertainers.
If you’ve been dabbling in the green for some time now, chances are you’ve used the go-to services from Weedmaps that help your perpetual hunt for the best weed in town.
Being such a big player in our changing and fast-paced industry comes with some major responsibilities to lead by example and launch innovative efforts to help destigmatize the plant.
Forbes highlights that Weedmaps is now launching a four-part docuseries surrounding the evolution and impact of cannabis culture in four cities, Las Vegas, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago.
The series is dubbed Tumbleweeds with Killer Mike, produced by digital media platform Wheelhouse Labs. Rapper and cannabis advocate Killer Mike will host the series and take viewers into different cannabis dispensaries across the four cannabis hubs named above.
Killer Mike will also sit down with other notable names in entertainment like Jocelyn Chia and Fab 5 Freddy to speak about their experience with marijuana, how it impacted them, and why they feel destigmatization is paramount.
According to Forbes, Weedmaps will also provide statistics and facts throughout the series to help viewers understand the area’s past with marijuana, social justice impacts, and where each city’s cannabis space is headed.
“As a leader in the space for almost 14 years, it’s incumbent on us to help shift old and, in many ways, inaccurate perceptions of the plant,” CEO of WM Technology and operator of Weedmaps, Chris Beals, told Forbes via email.
“This is doubly critical when you consider that despite the fact you see growing legal cannabis markets, we still have thousands of people still in jail simply for possessing cannabis,” he added.
Beals said Weedmaps’ mission to “educate and change attitudes through creative content” never quits, and Tumbleweeds with Killer Mike is “no different.”

This time around, viewers can examine the mark cannabis has left on these four cities and their populations but through a refreshing comedic and communal lens to offer a more relaxed yet informative feel.
Beals added that his company has “a standing partnership with Wheelhouse Labs,” and the new docuseries “originated from [Weedmaps and Wheelhouse’s] collective desire to further conversations around cannabis in a way that felt approachable and engaging by a broader, more mainstream audience.”
Tumbleweeds with Killer Mike will premiere on VICE TV on our favorite day of the year, April 20.
