The country's Health Minister has acknowledged the need for action regarding the nationwide mental health crisis.
Cannabis companies have made many efforts to help Ukraine.
But perhaps the plant itself could offer additional support to Ukrainians suffering mental health issues amid the ongoing war.
The country’s Health Minister, Viktor Liashko, recently announced the government had created a bill that would legalize medical cannabis.
He made the announcement through Facebook, adding that the bill is currently in the Ukrainian Parliament for final approval.
Ukraine‘s new bill would regulate the production, cultivation, and sale of medical cannabis. Doing so would also allow the licensing of cultivation sites and research facilities.
In his Facebook post on June 7, Liashko wrote, “We understand the negative consequences of the war on the mental health camp.”
He added, “We understand the number of people who will require medical treatment in the last breath.”
Following his announcement, Kyiv Post reported the same news. It noted that the bill would also create a tracking system to validate how much cannabis is circulating throughout the country.
Furthermore, a designated group of researchers and scientists from different organizations will eventually determine the legal percentage of THC in cannabis flower and products.
