Meet The Chocolatiers Of Edibles

Bhang's edibles continue to win over cannabis consumers.

For twelve long years, award-winning edible brand Bhang has delivered safe, effective, and fan-favorite products, especially delectable cannabis-infused chocolates. But what makes the company stand out from the rest? What is it about Bhang that keeps consumers coming back for more?

It’s no secret that the cannabis industry has become over-saturated with an abundance of products. Some are of the utmost high quality, and others leave users disappointed with the money they spent. CEO of Bhang Jamie L Pearson spoke to Proactive in a recent interview, breaking down why her company has an advantage in such a saturated market.

Bhang launched 12 years ago in Oakland, California, and since then, the company has gained some valuable industry insight, knowledge, and experience regarding which products consumers tend to lean towards. But the key factor of Bhang’s success is how the company continues to deliver “delicious, safe, and consistent” products to returning consumers for over a decade, says Pearson.

She added that her company’s ample experience in the industry is a great advantage; “knowing when to get there first versus knowing when to let others take the lead and make expensive mistakes is the key.”

Bhang has seen its fair share of product delays and rollouts because of the ever-changing laws and legislation, so this helps the company create the right strategies for “approaching a new market or a new product,” Pearson explained in the interview.

Besides these factors, a key element to Bhang’s success lies within its licensing relationships, thanks to partners and powerful industry players like Trulieve, Cannavative, Chocolate Cartel, and Indiva.

“Bhang’s low cap-ex (capital expenditure) and op-ex (operating expenditure) business structure” also help the company create innovative products and raise awareness for federal legalization “without taking big, unnecessary risks in times of uncertainty,” said Pearson.

Once the pandemic began closing dispensaries left and right, Bhang started developing a consumer-facing e-commerce strategy that would allow consumers in legalized states to purchase its edibles through its website. Pearson said responding to the shift from in-person to online shopping, “which has rippled into our industry, is a no-brainer.”

Finally, just as long as Bhang has been operating, it has supported the expungement of cannabis-related convictions for non-violent crimes. The company has made various donations to the Last Prisoner Project, which works to help release individuals imprisoned for marijuana crimes.

Bhang partnered with the Blues Brothers last summer to sponsor a concert at MJ Unpacked, which, according to Proactive, raised over $70,000 for the Last Prisoner Project.
