Officers are no strangers to unusual and foreign objects used to hide narcotics. More recently, watermelons seem to be the latest trafficking trend.
A recent video posted to the “Unexpected” subreddit saw an officer cutting into an average-sized watermelon only to reveal a special treat inside.
After the officer notices a pink-colored bag inside the melon, he cuts it open to unveil massive amounts of cannabis. The initial video was posted with the caption, “Best way to slice your watermelon.”
Later in the video, officers headed to the back of a truck where countless watermelons were set to be delivered but were interrupted by officers who proceeded to slice them open, revealing even more flowers. They later arrested the two males at the location, who are assumed to be the delivery drivers.

“That idiot thought they were rotten watermelon,” one Reddit user said, following another comment like, “I thought they had mice in them.” Another member wrote, “Maybe like the machine that fills bears with stuffing at Build A Bear. But filling watermelons with weed.”
Watermelons seem to be the latest trend in the drug trafficking world, as agents from the Border Patrol’s Otay Mesa commercial inspection facility outside San Diego found methamphetamine worth over $2.5 million smuggled in a shipment of melons.
