Dolled Up: Why The New Barbie Movie Might Be Worth Watching

That's if you're really stoned.

Okay, we get it. Maybe you’re not totally into Barbie, right? The case doesn’t seem to be true after hearing Barbie’s latest film casting, which took us by surprise in the best way possible.

Starring the movie and playing the titular role will be none other than Margot Robbie, and playing the dream role of Ken, is one of the dreamiest actors in the entertainment industry, Ryan Gosling. Known for his heartthrob roles like in The Notebook with Rachel McAdams, sources told Deadline that Gosling is currently in his final negotiations to play the legendary plastic Mattel character from Warner Bros. Directing the movie is the compelling and brilliant mind, Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote the script with Noah Baumbach.

According to Deadline, Gosling initially turned down the role due to his busy schedule. The filmmakers continued to drag out pre-production and were adamant about securing Gosling, as he was their only hope. We don’t blame them for wanting the iconic romantic to play such a legendary role.

As they remained persistent, an opening seemed to appear in Gosling’s schedule, which resulted in him hopping onboard into the magical world of Barbie. As Gosling reaches the end of his negotiations, the film’s production is soon to be in full swing and is expected to start shooting in early 2022.

We’re not too sure just how this movie will go about, but if one thing’s for sure, Gerwig’s gripping direction will definitely make it a lot more exciting and stimulating than we’d expect. So it’s safe to say that we shouldn’t shoot down the child-like film just yet, especially since two of the hottest actors are playing lead roles.

Robbie will be producing the film under her LuckyChap Entertainment production banner, which is repped by CAA, Management 360, and attorney Jeff Bernstein. LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley, Mattel’s Robbie Brenner, and David Heyman will also produce the film. Executive producers on board are LuckyChap’s Josey McNamara and Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz.

Gosling, repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, will be taking part in some of the most spot-on castings in recent years, and the new Barbie film will definitely leave fans eager to see his impact on the new picture.

The Oscar-nominated actor just wrapped up production for the Netflix action film The Gray Man, starring Chris Evans, Gosling, and directed by the Russo Brothers. Now, we just have to sit and wait to hear more announcements on Gosling’s forthcoming role as the infamous plastic heartbreaker, Ken.
