Winnie the Pooh is Finally in the Public Domain

Pooh Bear is free to use now!

On January 1, 2022, Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain. Which means that anyone can use the character’s name and likeness as they see fit… to an extent.

Winnie the Pooh, also known as Pooh Bear and Pooh, is a fictional teddy bear that brought many of us comfort as children. His need for honey, and his compassion towards all of his friends was the icing on the cake. Or rather, the honey in the jar.

Created by English author A. A. Milne and English illustrator E. H. Shepard, Winnie has survived nearly 100 years, and the character is now in the public domain.

What does that mean?

While there are some exceptions, you are able to recreate the image of Pooh in a number of ways. For more info, check out the video above!
