She had no idea there was weed in the brownies.
It appears even SZA has a hilarious story about an edibles experience gone wrong.
After a fan reached out to the singer asking her where she worked before her career in music took off, SZA shared via Twitter that her jobs were at big brand retail stores: H+M, Abercrombie, Sephora, and, finally, Diesel, where her story takes place.
A series of tweets followed, where the Grammy-award winning artist shared the details of what initially seemed like an opportunity for free breakfast. She recalled walking into work to find a fellow Diesel employee with a container full of brownies that she and three other staff members gleefully indulged in.
SZA alleges that no one disclosed the brownies were infused with cannabis and that she unknowingly ate two before all hell broke loose.
Once the THC started kicking in, things took a sharp turn for the worse. Her co-workers began laughing at her as she started feeling nauseous and disoriented.
The singer then made her way to the manager’s office, saying that she needed to see a doctor. The manager responded by firing her on the spot.
For the rest of that day, SZA sought refuge in a Mexican restaurant, searching for answers to the entire ordeal, which lead her to conclude that she had been set up by her former co-workers.
As Complex points out, the loss turned out to be a massive win for the rapper in hindsight. Since then, SZA’s discography has surpassed two billion streams on Spotify. Her new co-workers include Top Dog Entertainment rappers including Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Isaiah Rashad.
