Some of these celebrities were even hardcore potheads.
When you think of celebrity stoners, who comes to mind?
Probably some popular names like Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Seth Rogen, and especially the late Bob Marley.
The list of familiar celebrity stoners goes on. But what’s even more interesting are the celebrities who keep their consumption private, meaning if they never said anything, you’d never know they smoked weed.
With this list, we wanted to share some of the most popular celebrities that you had no idea were cannabis enthusiasts. From talk show hosts to athletes, keep reading to see who dabbles in the green.
We love Ty Dolla $ign’s music just as much as we adore his strain. You read that right; the iconic hip-hop artist and producer has his strain dubbed Dolla Sign OG. It’s an earthy and potent cross between Irene OG and Larry OG, producing a pine-like flavor and aroma that’s impossible to resist. That’s not his only venture; Ty Dolla $ign also collaborated with Hemper on a sleek and handy box of smoking essentials.

Three months after Michael Phelps won eight gold medals in swimming at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he faced controversy after a leaked video showed him taking a massive bong hit. By the looks of the hit, we can tell this wasn’t his first rodeo. We’re not sure if he still uses weed on the down-low, but he’s proved that Olympic athletes know how to have fun.
Who knew Andy was a weed enthusiast? The executive producer of the Real Housewives franchise and talk show host has opened up about his experience with cannabis. On his show, Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, he used to make pipes out of soda cans when he was younger. He added that he’s not so good at rolling joints but could do it in a pinch.

Lady Gaga’s relationship with cannabis has changed over the years. When she suffered from pain after fracturing her hip, Mother Monster confessed that she smoked 15 to 20 joints a day. Then, after trying to become more clear-headed, she quit weed for weeks. Gaga tells sources, “I smoke a little bit at night, just you know, for fun.”
For years, Bill Gates was the wealthiest man in the world. Now he’s ranked #2 after CEO and founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, stepped into the picture. For such a successful entrepreneur, one can only ask what helped him clear his mind. In a book by Stephen Manes, he noted that Gates’s “pharmaceutical of choice” was cannabis. Gates was public about his support for cannabis legalization in Washington in 2012.
The makers of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, used to be weed dealers during their teenage years and young adulthood in Queens, New York. They were so fond of the plant that they’ve opened up about wanting to add cannabis-infused ice creams and sweets to their line of products. We’re unsure if that plan is still in the works; fingers crossed.
Although she doesn’t smoke weed, Martha Stewart proudly supports plant-based medicine and CBD products. She’s shared that rolling a joint is easy, thanks to her experiences with rolling cigarettes back in the day. She also has her brand, Martha Stewart CBD. Don’t even get me started on her many collaborations with Snoop Dogg.
While you might know her as a host on The View, actor, and comedian Whoopi Goldberg is also a proud cannabis enthusiast. She taught Andy Cohen how to roll a joint on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, launched two cannabis brands (Whoopi & Maya, Emma & Clyde), and specializes in developing products geared toward women.
Willie Nelson is constantly finding new ways to share the benefits of cannabis. He even has his strain that’s geared towards both medical patients and recreational consumers. He’s won countless awards for his advocacy efforts and never fails to shed light on how cannabis can change someone’s life for the better. Plus, he’s got a sense of humor too. Check out his tongue-in-cheek advertisement for legalization, I mean, Skechers.

The list goes on when it comes to Hollywood actors and their relationships with cannabis. However, one of the most surprising stories of actors and weed comes from Cameron Diaz. The actress shared on Lopez Tonight that she bought weed from Snoop Dogg when they were attending high school together. Snoop recalled the same memory but shared that it was “white girl weed,” meaning only the seeds and stems.
