Does Eminem Smoke Weed?

Does the rap god dabble in the green? Here's everything we know about Eminem smoking weed.

Eminem has been open about a lot of things in his personal life. From drug addiction to his road to Recovery (his seventh studio album).

But there’s one thing about Marshall Mathers that the world wants to know. Does he smoke weed?

Fans have been asking this question over the course of his career, as cannabis use isn’t something the Rap God has been particularly vocal about.

About Eminem

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last 20 years, here’s a little bit about who Eminem is and why he’s the Rap God.

His legal name is Marshall Bruce Mathers. He was born on October 17, 1972, in Missouri. He’s an actor, record producer, and, above all, one of the best rappers of all time.

Something that makes Eminen so special is his ability to write lyrics about just about anything. In his albums, you can expect dark, sad, and upbeat tracks, not to mention quirky flairs here and there.

His quick flow and precise articulation are unmatched.

Eminem And Cannabis Culture

The weed questions were at a “high” when Eminem teamed up with Snoop Dogg for their single and music video, “From the D 2 the LBC.”

A song that is basically all about weed and even sees Eminem spitting bars like;

“If y’all are seekin’ the smoke, I got all the weed / I am a walking motherfuckin’ marijuana leaf / And I’m here to stay.”

Not to mention other bars that reference Snoop Dogg’s legal name.

“Calvin’s turnin’ me into a zombie / ‘Cause these buds are like the Hulk, they’re twice the size that his arm be / And that is some strong green.”

Finally, he also referenced that Snoop’s weed is strong enough to make him relapse. But, of course, these are just lyrics to a song.

Does Eminem Smoke Weed?

Alright, let’s finally answer the question: Does Eminem smoke pot?

Even though Eminem references weed in his music, his relationship with the plant is somewhat ambiguous.

For instance, in “The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady,” he says, “I got a lil’ green, but I don’t do weed.”

Although this was well before his collab with Snoop, it gives some insight into the rappers stance on marijuana in the earlier days.

As for now, it’s unknown if Eminem lights up and dabbles in the beloved herb.

A Past With Prescription Drugs

Something Eminem has been vocal about is his past struggles with addiction to prescription medications. He’s opened up in interviews about how once his career began to take off and he was living life in the fast lane, he would often reach for sleeping pills to calm him down.

This period of his life was followed by a four-year hiatus from music, where he spent his time in rehab and then relapsed. The release of his album Recovery marked a turning point in his life and career.

Eminem aside, it’s common for past drug addicts to turn to cannabis for a more natural and less addictive form of relief.

But, like anyone’s struggles with addiction, that’s personal. We shouldn’t make any assumptions about how the rapper has coped with addiction or if he uses cannabis to combat those issues.

Mind you, Eminem does have a few other songs that pay homage to cannabis, like Must Be The Ganja. And then, there are songs like The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady, with Kid Cudi, where Eminem raps, “I had hoop dreams, now I shoot threes / Got a lil’ green, but I don’t do weed.”

These are all just songs, of course. Ultimately, it’s unclear whether Eminem uses cannabis or not. But one thing’s for sure: he seems to be in the happiest and healthiest state of his career, so kudos to the Rap God for that.
