What Is CBDP? Everything You Need To Know

You heard of THCP, meet CBDP. Created with Spyglass Wellness.

With dozens of naturally-occurring chemical compounds found in cannabis, it seems that we’re able to learn about a new one every day.

The cloak of mystery is slowly but surely being lifted as the weed world comes into the 21st century, becoming a pillar of knowledge and reaping the potential benefits of the plant that you know and love.

One of the most overlooked but especially therapeutic cannabinoids is CBDP, otherwise known as cannabidiphorol.

With many benefits and an ever-growing interest in the cannabis community, let’s get into what CBDP is.

If you’re interested in trying this tincture from Spyglass Wellness.

What Is CBDP?

As a heptyl homolog of the much used and well-known cannabinoid CBD (cannabidiol), cannabidiphorol won’t make you high like its chemical cousin, THCP (tetrahydrocannabiphorol).

However, this compound does make its mark inside of the body and nervous system, activating receptors and influencing the chemicals swimming around in your brain.

Most cannabinoids, like the well-known THC and CBD, have a five-link side chain in their molecular structure.

The chemistry behind the reason why CBDP is different rests in this: instead of a five-link chain, CBDP and THCP have seven-link side chains that affect how they bind to CB1 and CB2 receptors, which ultimately heighten the physical and cerebral effects.

To be honest, CBDP doesn’t bind too strongly to these receptors since it’s not psychoactive but doesn’t sleep on its effects.

As the scientists of the cannabis world learn more about all of its therapeutic benefits, companies are starting to pay attention to its potential and create products for you, the consumer of everything weed.

How Is It Made?

CBDP and THCP were first extracted from a cannabis plant by a group of Italian scientists working for UNIHEMP back in 2019 before the pandemic hit.

Using medical cannabis to search out more hidden cannabinoids, they discovered these compounds by using advanced technology like mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography to analyze the plant to its very core and find the hidden gems living inside.

Unlike the well-known THC and CBD, which can be found in high percentages in the cannabis plant, CBDP and THCP account for less than 1%, making it difficult to extract but totally worth it.

The main difference between CBDP and CBD is simple: CBDP is thought to be quite similar as far as effects and benefits go, but more potent.

You probably won’t feel much different if you’re used to taking regular, old CBD, but the potency is definitely noticeable as it gives you more bang for your buck.

Benefits

Research is still underway to discover all the potential benefits that CBDP has in store, but the discoveries so far awaken hope in scientists and those who belong to the cannabis community. Similar to CBD, its effects range from medical to emotional benefits. It’s useful in the treatment of:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Epilepsy
  • Pain
  • Inflammation
  • Mood-regulation
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Breast cancer

Sure, you love knowing about the potential benefits of new cannabinoids, but the real question you want answers to is simple: how does it make you feel?

Like with other under-researched compounds, the jury is still out but more things are coming to light every day. You can be sure that you won’t feel an intense and euphoric high, but the mental effects prevail nonetheless.

Here’s what you can expect from trying CBDP:

  • Stimulation
  • Relaxation
  • Calmness
  • Mood-enhancing effects
  • Anti-stress
  • Anti-anxiety
  • Anti-depression

Is It Safe?

Is CBDP safe to use?

Like with all cannabis products, it all depends on the production method that is used to ensure that they are safe to consume and use. Products aren’t yet widely available, but we bet they’ll be popping up soon enough.

When they do, we’ll be on the lookout for the companies like Spyglass Wellness that take every precaution during the extraction of the cannabinoid and creation of the products, with the hopes of bringing this newly-discovered compound into the lives of weed-lovers all around the world.
