These are the top 4 most expensive strains to exist.
It’s no secret that modern marijuana can be pretty pricey, especially with carefully engineered and developed strains that your favorite cannabis-loving celebrities smoke. In honor of premium, top-shelf weed that never goes out of style, we wanted to find which strains are the most expensive and why they’re the leaders of the pack.
One of the most energizing strains on the market is the shiny and high-end J1 strain. It’s a Sativa-dominant and a cross between other cerebral Sativas like Skunk #1 and Jack Herer. According to The Smoker’s Club, J1 is pretty tough to find at dispensaries, and when you do, it usually costs about $350 for an ounce. The frosty and crystal-coated strain is often seen as a shot of espresso, giving users an uplifting and exciting kick within minutes.

Canned Cannabis? Most retail marijuana comes in cardboard or plastic packaging, but this strain was so good that it had to sit in sturdy cans to keep it sealed, protected, and cured. This Hybrid strain offers a pretty high THC content ranging from 18% to 23% and goes for $100 an eighth, and up to $800 an ounce, per The Smoker’s Club.
The official second most expensive strain is Loud Dream, a rare Sativa-dominant variety developed by backcrossing a Blue Dream F1 with itself to produce a female seed. The buds are pretty huge, and this sticky flower with a sweet aroma can set you back $800 for an ounce due to its rarity and unique backcrossing method. It’s also said to be the perfect bud for a wake ‘n bake.
The moment you’ve all been waiting for, the most expensive strain to ever roam the earth was developed in 2012 by Alien Genetics for a limited time offer. Fruity Pebbles is an Indica-dominant Hybrid that takes genetics from Green Ribbon, Granddaddy Purple, and Tahoe Alien. The result is a delicious and sweet strain with bright euphoric effects. Seeds for Fruity Pebbles allegedly go for a whopping $1,500.
