How Cocoa And Cannabis Act On Your Brain

The two are more similar than you think. Created with Eighty Six.

Cocoa beans have been a staple in medicine for over 5,000 years, back to when they were first consumed by the Yucatán, Olmecs, and Aztecs. Not only was cocoa a go-to for medicine, but it was also seen as a sexual enhancer.

If you look at cannabis and hemp, the plant’s history is very similar to the complexity and use of cocoa beans.

It’s been used for both industrial and medical purposes, like making clothes and rope to treating everything from rheumatism to menstrual cramps.

Today, we’re starting to learn about how cocoa and cannabis might work together to enhance the user’s experience and send them into a state of bliss.

Cannabis contains roughly 113 chemical compounds called cannabinoids, and when we consume them, they interact with our body’s endocannabinoid system.

A study published in the Journal of Nature in 1996 found that chocolate contains a few cannabinoids that our bodies naturally produce.

One of these was anandamide, a neurotransmitter that’s referred to as the “bliss molecule,” which offers similar uplifting and euphoric effects as THC.

When taking a bite of an edible like Eighty Six’s Cookies & Cream Delta-8 Chocolate Bar, it’s easy to examine why we have such a relaxed and positive experience when mixing chocolate with cannabis.

This is because anandamide and THC are very similar in terms of their chemical structures. They interact exactly the same with our CB1 and CB2 endocannabinoid receptors.

Eighty Six’s Cookies & Cream Delta 8 Chocolate Bar contains 300 mg of Delta 8 THC, 25 mg per square.

Because the dosage of Delta 8 THC isn’t incredibly high and overpowering, it’s easier to feel the soothing and comforting effects of both Delta 8 THC and anandamide.

Using cannabis with chocolate is a plus for many reasons, especially if you often use the plant for medical purposes.

Because both compounds are so similar and organic, combining the two is ideal for getting the most out of their effects.

Because anandamide is so similar to cannabinoids found in cannabis, it can also help manage pain, post-performance recovery, regulate appetite, and boost mood.

It’s also been proven that anandamide can improve neurogenesis; it also contains anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties.

Since anandamide goes perfectly with cannabis, especially for medical relief, we hope you’ll put it to the test with Eighty Six’s Cookies & Cream D8 Chocolate Bar.

Delta 8 THC offers a less invasive and more relaxed high than your regular Delta 9 THC, so you can feel the entire synergistic effects of all compounds at play.
