With Florida's recreational cannabis vote on the horizon, Herb and Lion Order's event sparked a passionate discussion on the future of herb in the Sunshine State.
The best memories are made with a joint in hand. Not just any joint, but one rolled with some premium King Clementine and sparked by the Miami beachside. That’s at least what our team said after an eventful evening with Rohan Marley’s cannabis brand, Lion Order, and event manager Haute Living.
On October 5, Herb was proud to host one of the most influential events in Florida’s cannabis space. In collaboration with Lion Order and coordinated by Haute Living, the evening was much more than a dinner. It was a passionate discussion on Florida’s potential to become a leading cannabis hub in the United States.
On November 5, Florida has the chance to make history. The state will officially vote on the 3rd Amendment, aka, the legalization of recreational cannabis. There was truly no better time to discuss how the biggest players in the cannabis industry can advocate for this change and make it a reality.
“We know that Miami has been the capital of the ganja movement since the early 70s,” explains Rohan. “Lion Order is a brand inspired by the early movement as a young boy growing up in Jamaica, watching the Rastafari movement where the herb is a sacrament to us. Lion Order really is a representation of all the herbalists and ganja kings that came before us.”
Lion Order’s recent partnership with Goldflower came at the perfect time, just one month before Florida’s big vote. Rooted in unity and cultural heritage, Lion Order represents something much larger than organic, sustainable cannabis.
“My brothers are my teachers, my leaders,” says Rohan. “They speak the word, and I try to manifest what they say. I am only the tangible items of what my father and brothers say. That’s Lion Order. That’s the Marley family.”
The table was set to perfection, with each guest treated to 3.5g of Lion Order’s premium cannabis flower. New friends were made, and lifelong friends were reunited.
Kamal Hotchandani, CEO of Haute Living, and Rohan Marley share a decades-long friendship. In fact, Kamal introduced Rohan to the concept of entrepreneurship and encouraged him to build a presence in Miami back in 2001.
When Rohan told Haute Living about the event, Hotchandani knew his brand had to be involved and support the mission at stake.
“Time is our greatest asset in that we’re able to share this moment together,” explains Kamal. “Seeing what Rohan’s done as an entrepreneur and what he’s done in all facets of his life has been a true inspiration.”
The evening encapsulated everything we love about Florida’s cannabis culture: The people, the passion, the music, the fresh coastal air, and the cannabis that has the ability to change lives.
“Herb represents the lifestyle of cannabis,” states Rohan when discussing the inception of our partnership. “Not the genetics, not the farms, but about the lifestyle, the movement…the people who just want a good spliff.”
To put a bow on the evening, guests were treated to a Marley Brothers concert at FPL Solar Amphitheater featuring Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Julian Marley, Ky-Mani Marley, and Damian Marley, with a special appearance from Rohan and Lauryn Hill’s son, YG Marley.
The entire gathering was one for the books. But the mission still stands: How can we, as a community, band together to help Florida receive the access to cannabis it deserves?
We promise to uphold our end of the promise. Now, it’s up to you. The future of cannabis is in Florida’s hands.
