The process involves infusing oils with cannabis through decarboxylation, creating a potent base for the salve. Here are two simple recipes if you want to experiment yourself how to make cannabis oil.
Ingredients
– 1 oz. bud and/or trimmings from cannabis plants. Choose a relaxing strain if possible.
– 16 oz. coconut oil, apricot kernel oil, sweet almond oil, or even olive oil.
– 2 tablespoons of shea butter (optional).
– 2 oz. of beeswax
– 2 to 10 drops of essential oils (for an optional scent)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit and spread your crushed, dried cannabis on a baking sheet. After the oven is preheated, decarboxylate your cannabis in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
2. While the cannabis is in the oven, place the coconut oil and olive oil in the pan or a double boiler over low heat and stir continuously.
3. Remove your decarboxylated cannabis from the oven and mix it with the coconut oil. Maintain a low heat and continue to stir the cannabis and oil mixture for 20 to 25 minutes.
4. After 25 minutes, remove from the heat and pour the mixture through a cheese cloth into the jar. Set aside.
