How To Avoid A Hangover With THC & CBD Drinks

These cannabis drinks will put an end to your post-party woes.

We’ve all had that hangover that makes you wish you never took a sip of alcohol the previous night, despite our pleas to never drink again.

Whether you’re taking frequent bathroom breaks at work or glued to your toilet at home, hangovers aren’t fun for anyone.

It’s almost like the universe is evening out the fun we had while drunk, keeping everything in balance and making us pay for the bullying of our livers.

Many of us make adjustments during our boozing, frequently drinking water in-between drinks or eating healthier food to give your stomach one less battle to fight, but sometimes you just can’t avoid the negative effects of a hangover.

It’s important to note that everyone’s body is different and all of us will experience different hangover effects after a night of throwing back the firewater.

There are some individuals that encounter hangover symptoms after just one drink (30 year-olds are new to this phenomenon) and others whose tolerance is so high that they wake up the next day ready to take another trip around the bend.

What Causes A Hangover

There are many factors, including dehydration and loss of electrolytes, among other things, that contribute to our hellish morning and possibly afternoon.

Waking up with a bad hangover, the first stop is often the bathroom. This is due to alcohol irritating your stomach lining by increasing the production of stomach acid and delaying the emptying of your stomach.

That delay ends quickly the next morning as you rush to the bathroom, doesn’t it?

The fatigue, shakiness, and mood swings that often accompany hangovers are caused by our blood sugar dipping to a low level. This altering of blood sugar can also cause seizures in some individuals.

For diabetics, blood sugar levels can rise or fall to dangerous levels during alcohol consumption, and medicines designed to combat the disease do not mix well with booze.

The immune system is also affected by the sauce, which messes with your body’s immune cells and their interactions.

This causes us to have physical symptoms like memory and concentration problems, decreased appetite, and loss of interest in usual activities.

In fact, the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism has conducted studies that indicate a single night of drinking can suppress the immune system for up to 24 hours.

As most stoners know, there’s nothing like a joint or ten to ease your symptoms following a night of binging (my grandma would suggest Menudo as the top solution for that hangover, but hey, why not both?).   With all the benefits the weed brings to the body and mind, it’s not difficult to see why many stoners have an easier time with hangover symptoms.

Isn’t it peculiar that a substance that is often illegal is a great remedy for a perfectly legal liquid that does more harm than good?

Well, it wouldn’t be our world without such contradictions, and luckily there’s weed and hemp-derived products like Delta 8 THC and CBD that offer a legal attempt to ease symptoms of a bender.

Can CBD Stop A Hangover?

CBD is an antioxidant, meaning it decreases the harm that free radicals bring to the body.  The term ‘free radicals’ doesn’t describe the attendees at Woodstock, but something much more damaging to the body.

They are intensely reactive compounds, like alcohol, that contain an excess of energy which they attempt to lessen by reacting with chemicals in the body.

This prevents the cells from functioning properly and along comes antioxidants to the rescue.

While CBD has not been studied specifically for its positive effects on hangovers, there are many tested and true benefits that the Cannabinoid can provide someone suffering from headaches, fatigue, nausea, and anxiety.

CBD affects the endocannabinoid system and has the ability to reduce inflammation. It also has been studied to reduce aches and pains, which are common side effects of a hangover.

These beneficial products are separated by THC dosage, giving you a wide variety of options depending on the harshness of your hangover.
