We know Colorado to be one of the most scenic locations in the United States, and it also happened to legalize recreational marijuana way back in 2012. It would be a shame to miss out on such refreshing and stunning scenery on the various hikes and trails that Colorado has to offer, and we encourage you to grab your favorite bud and experience the great outdoors.
Without further ado, here are our top five favorite hikes in Colorado for the active stoner.

One hour from Denver lies this popular hike to a beautiful destination. Devil’s Head lookout is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and we encourage you to see why. The fire tower was one of seven and built in the 1900s, making for an incredible lookout that takes 143 stairs to climb. But the views of the Front Range and the Rocky Mountains make the trek worth it.

Located within Rocky Mountain National Park, this 300-mile trail is one the best for stunning scenic views. Even for first-time hikers or those afraid of huffing and puffing, this trail is easy enough to stroll through, run, or do some energetic power walking. The trail begins at Bear Leake and later climbs to Dream Lake, leading the hiker to the beautiful and renowned Emerald Lake.

Far in the mountains west of Boulder, Indian Peaks Wilderness lies a remarkable wildlife area with miles of scenic trails and various access points to both sides of the Continental Divide. Not only is the destination worth the trek, but the trail also offers a substantial mix of scenery and terrain to keep your mind and body active.

This trail is best for advanced hikers or those who love a good leg-burning climb. Located in Boulder’s Chautauqua Park, this trail offers a complete view of scenic highlights alongside the miles of different paths that keep you entertained with the Flatiron backdrops. The hike’s incline is a tad tricky, so be sure to wear your best and safest footwear for the outing.

This hike is most common for backpackers and overnight trips. It’s a 27-mile loop and is one of the most popular hikes in the state. Along with the beautiful Maroon Bell backdrop, lush flowers, and hillsides of aspen, hikers have the opportunity to use four different paths to climb and descend, allowing for a refreshing view each time.
