Want a discreet way to take "diet weed"? Try out these THCV oils.

This might be the first you’re hearing of THCV, but the strains that you’ve smoked over the years have most likely contained trace amounts of the cannabinoid that’s often overshadowed by its popular cousins THC and CBD.

It comes in many forms, let’s explore the best THCV rich oils out there.

You can apply the drops sublingually or add them to butter or cooking oil to make your favorite edibles.

What Is THCV

Popular cannabinoids include THC and CBD, however, there are dozens of other compounds that make up the structure of your cannabis. Most of these lesser-known chemicals are often found in minuscule amounts, making them difficult to identify in the lab. THCV has presented itself as an interesting, emerging compound that could have benefits that differ from the usually much more potent THC.

Those who have dabbled with THCV encounter an exciting, euphoric, and energizing experience that is unique to other forms of cannabis.

Some other characteristics of THCV might surprise you. It interacts with the endocannabinoid system differently than other compounds, which contributes to THCV having a reverse effect in comparison to THC when dealing with certain bodily functions, including appetite.

The munchies have been synonymous with weed for ages, but here’s a cannabinoid that actually suppresses the appetite, making THCV a potential favorite for those still trying to shed the lockdown pounds.

Where tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) differs chemically from regular tetrahydrocannabinol (THC or Delta 9 THC) is in the lineage of each compound. THC’s parent molecule is cannabigerolic acid (CBGA), which is also where CBD is derived from. THCV, on the other hand, is born out of cannabigerovarin acid (CBGVA). The molecular structure of both cannabinoids look incredibly similar, however, the THC molecule contains two more side-chained carbon atoms.

All this boils down to the fact each compound, depending on its potency, has specific benefits that tend to differ. Speaking of boiling, it’s important to note that THCV has a higher boiling point than THC, so you’ll want to increase the temperature (to 428℉) or use the hottest setting on your device.

Benefits Of THCV

With the emergence of additional cannabis compounds like Delta 8, Delta 10, and THC-O, the specialization and diversity of this plant is baffling researchers.

The benefits specific to THCV are somewhat close to a typical sativa, with powerful cerebral effects that get you energized for whatever comes your way. However, this cannabinoid also features many additional benefits that differ from what we know about weed.

With benefits for those suffering from conditions like anxiety, PTSD, schizophrenia, and diabetes, the ongoing

THCV & Weight Management

Another previously mentioned contrasting effect of THCV is its ability to suppress your appetite rather than enhancing it like we’re used to after smoking. This detail alone creates the appeal to individuals battling obesity or stoners who are tired of the munchies getting the best of them.

In low doses, THCV quells the CB1 receptors in the body’s endocannabinoid system, while old faithful THC binds to those same receptors, thus producing the psychoactive high we are used to.

THCV & Anxiety Release

Like its compound cousin, THCV will also bind to the CB1 receptors if administered in high enough doses. This produces the euphoric state that many sativas are famous for, but for a shorter amount of time.

Those same CB1 receptors are located in the brain and nervous system, influencing motor activity, thinking, pain perception, motor coordination, and short-term memory. This explains why THCV is being studied for its possible benefits for anxiety relief, PTSD, and other mood disorders.

THCV As An Anticonvulsant

Studies have begun on THCV’s effect on curtailing convulsions and tremors in patients suffering from disorders like Parkinson’s, ALS, Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and multiple sclerosis.

The potential to provide this neuroprotection and decrease inflammation is encouraging to patients who are looking for relief without harming their body with pharmaceuticals.

The application of THCV is one more step in the continuing discovery of the benefits of cannabis and all its compounds.

Effects Of THCV

The effects that you’ll feel while experiencing THCV will range depending on the dosage. In low doses, you will stay alert, energetic, and motivated for a prolonged period of time. Once you up that dosage, the effects do start to mimic THC’s, but at a lesser potency.

THCV & CBD

With all this talk about the comparisons between THCV and THC, researchers are more intrigued about the relationship between THCV and CBD. While ingesting THCV does diminish the psychoactive effects of THC, combining the compound with CBD might be a more beneficial pairing.

This is due to CBD providing a lot of the same effects as previously listed for THCV (other than the appetite suppressant, which has stayed pretty exclusive to THCV).
