Herb Plated: Luxurious Seafood Shareables At Catch LA

Feast on Catch's many catches of the day.

What started as a solo flagship in New York City has blossomed into an international favorite.

The first Catch restaurant opened in 2011 and has since expanded its seafood favorites in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Anyone who enjoys delicacies from the sea will adore the variety of eats on the menu. There’s tons of hype around the restaurant; James Corden even stopped in for his “Take a Break” segment, where he worked behind the counter for a few entertaining minutes.

I was itching to try Catch’s many catches of the day, so I finally stopped in at their Los Angeles location. If we know anything about delicious food in California, it’s that a legal joint is always the first course.

Keep in mind that they do have a dress code so check out their guidelines on the website before you go.

Instead of laying out courses on the menu by appetizers and mains, Catch LA features different categories like Raw Bar, Signature Cold, Rolled, and much more.

We’ve heard about the restaurant’s renowned pretzel bread, so we ordered that as soon as we arrived at our table.

It came with a delicious whipped honey-mustard butter with a perfect balance of salty, savory, and sweet.

To start things off, we shared the Sesame Seared Salmon. It came with a delightful yuzu soy sauce topped with hot sesame olive oil, ginger, and chives. Each bite exploded with zingy flavors. But, portions are a bit small, so course number two wasn’t so far away.

We decided to share the Waguya Surf & Turf Roll for our second course.

This was by far one of the most luxurious tasting dishes I’ve tried. I can’t help but think it was all due to the Truffle Aioli, a true delicacy.

Besides that, the roll came with freshly caught Maine lobster, crispy potatoes, a sweet ponzu sauce, and crunchy chimichurri tempura flakes.

The marbled fat on the wagyu just melts in your mouth, paired with a sweet Maine lobster was to die for.

Dessert

We might have filled up on the fluffy pretzel bread, but maybe that was best for our wallets. To end our evening, we finished off with a decadent and rich “Hit Me” chocolate cake.

After gently tapping a spoon on top of the layered cake slice, it melted open with roasted white chocolate ice cream. Things definitely got messy, but it was so worth it.

The chocolate on top was liquid Klondike, and the cakey middle was Brownie Devil’s Food. A true treat for the eyes, mouth, and tummy.

If you’re a fan of wildly different yet complementary flavors and fresh, zingy seafood, Catch is your place. Whether you’re in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, or New York City, Catch is ready to share its many catches of the day.
